Nature’s Challenge is the ultimate test of your survival skills. This is a 2-step program. The first is a 3-day land navigation course in the remote mountains of Maine. Using various skills with minimal supplies to prove you are prepared for the last phase of the program. The last course is a week-long primitive expedition, open to those who have completed both Survival 101 and Survival 102, takes you on an exciting journey into the wilderness. You will primitively hike Maine’s 100 Mile Wilderness, ranging from the start of the path on Route 15 in Monson, Maine to the end and top of Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park. This is roughly 115 miles of hiking over varying terrain. This is considered the most difficult part of the entire Appalachian Trail. This is where you get to apply everything you've learned, demonstrating your resilience, resourcefulness, and survival prowess in real-world conditions. By limiting the supplies, you have on you during this journey, it creates a system where every student must use the proper survival mindset to adjust to ever changing problems and terrain. For some, this will be the hardest thing they have ever done in their life, so far. You will reach the top of the mountain as a newly formed leader with the world at your fingertips.
Using high quality instructors and equipment; Nanoq Guides can offer CPR/AED/First Aid – Self Aid Buddy Care/Tourniquet classes to groups of 6 or more. These can be scheduled anytime starting in 2024. Cost includes certification and supplies. More courses will be offered as we progress.
Primitive bow classes are one of the many talents we can offer. This 5-day course will have you build a long bow and arrows, by hand. You will slowly shape this bow to be an extension of your arm and a part of your tool kit. This class is for groups of 8 or more.
